my headcanon YJ!conner is fantastic
because not only would be legitimately wear that wolves t-shirt
but he likes Nickelback and doesn’t see why anyone wouldn’t like it and gets really irritated when people make fun of it
and he still eats like string cheese and stuff even though he doesn’t technically need to eat but he found out he really likes string cheese so he brings it along on missions and eats it really seriously and whatnot (but no yeah he pulls the strings apart like you’re supposed to, not just chomp down on it) and so he’ll be briefing the team or more specifically Nightwing will be briefing the team and he’ll be sitting in the back with his gloves on peeling away at his string cheese and they don’t even say anything they don’t even SAY ANYTHING even though Jaime just sort of sits there and watches him and thinks really hard about saying something but NOTHING
(one time wonder girl was all “ugh omfg conner I am STARVING can I have your string cheese???” and conner just sort of looked at her and had an internal dilemma and then sighed and was all “fine whatever freshman” and gave her one BUT HE HAD TWO SO HE WAS OKAY and they sat around eating string cheese with the rest of the group)
occasionally wally comes back to HQ and begins to make fun of Conner but Dick is just so pleased with how comfortable and responsible Conner’s gotten and how awesome he is now that he’ll literally shush Wally
Artemis and Conner are tight and totally love each other
(he makes her laugh
when he’s eating his string cheese
she’ll make a scathing joke about Lagoon Boy
and he does that jokey nasally “HAA HA HA” and eats his string cheese
and Artemis just chuckles because omfg he is so funny isn’t he omfg)
Ah, I absolutely love YJ!Conner in invasion. I never disliked him (the boy was freshly cloned and got some bad treatment, especially from Superman, so of course he had anger issues and wasn’t adjusted), but he wasn’t much of a favourite, but now I actually love him to bits. I don’t even ship supermartian but I sobbed over how sad he was about the breakup and what Miss Martian did T____T And his episode with Jaime was definitely one of the best (and it was such a surprising but good team-up).
It kind of makes me sad when I hear that Conner can be a jerk in the comics (is that true? you tell me… I still have so much to read). I know these versions of him are basically two different characters and that it’s even a different Earth, but still… :/
I grew to love him. Through most of s1 I was just sort of meh about his character but when Invasion hit OMG he just completely skyrocketed up my favorite character list and YES RIGHT I don’t even really ship Supermartian at all, they didn’t make me feel like anything in s1 but still when they talk in Invasion I get impossibly sad at the breakup! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE, I DON’T EVEN LIKE THAT SHIP!!! and OH MY GOOOSH YESSSSSSS EXACTLY that team-up with Jaime was FANTASTIC I loved it so much, it showed a LOT of character for Conner and that was great. He’s grown up so much. Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, he is such my baby and I love him and I can’t even wow.
Conner? A JERK?!?!? Nooooo, no no no, Conner is like one of the most chill characters in the DCU! That’s why I definitely didn’t take a liking to Conner in YJ right away - they were so completely different. Conner’s a cool, chill dude in the comics, very different from YJ. It was hard for me at first to separate the two, but now it’s much easier because I feel like there was so much character development from s1 to s2 in YJ (even if technically we didn’t get to see all of it).
